The Pelješac Bridge finally connects southern Croatia

The Pelješac Bridge, a monumental engineering achievement, has finally connected Croatia's north and south, providing an uninterrupted land link to the Pelješac Peninsula. The bridge was built by the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). It spans 2,404 meters in length and stands 55 meters high, with a metal structure ten times heavier than the Eiffel Tower and concrete twenty times heavier. The Pelješac Bridge significantly improves transportation connectivity, stimulates economic development, and strengthens national unity. Residents of Dubrovnik and the surrounding areas are now directly connected to the rest of the country, easing daily life and business operations. Symbolically, Rimac's Nevera, the first car produced in Croatia and the fastest electric car in the world, was the first car to cross the bridge.

Croatia becomes a regular in the final four

After securing third place in the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France and second place in 2018 in Russia, Croatia, led by coach Zlatko Dalić, once again reached the semi-finals and claimed another third place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Luka Modrić and his teammates earned their third medal in just 24 years, which is even more remarkable considering that Croatia only began qualifying for the World Cup in the 1990s, after gaining independence. After finishing second in Group F, alongside Canada, Morocco, and Belgium, Croatia defeated Japan in a penalty shootout in the Round of 16, overcame Brazil in the quarterfinals, but fell to Argentina in the semi-finals, before securing third place by defeating Morocco.
