The Mediterranean energy gateway to Central Europe
After several decades of hesitation and delays, the LNG terminal in Omišalj on the island of Krk was finally inaugurated thanks to a visionary decision by Prime Minister Plenković's government. Built to the highest ecological and safety standards, the terminal ensures that there will be no pollution of the sea or environment. As gas is considered a transitional energy source, the LNG terminal plays a crucial role in Croatia's energy transition towards renewable energy sources. Strategically, the terminal has proven invaluable, providing Croatia with an additional gas supply route, as well as for neighbouring countries. This became particularly significant following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, giving the terminal an even more important role in ensuring supply security and Croatia's energy independence. Furthermore, the expansion of the terminal's capacity is set to establish Croatia as a regional energy hub.

Rafale fighter jets and strategic partnership
The visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Zagreb marked a new chapter in Croatian-French relations. During the visit, President Macron and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković signed the Croatian–French strategic partnership, and the defence ministers concluded an agreement for the acquisition of a squadron of 12 French Rafale fighter jets for the Croatian Air Force. To mark the event, French Rafale jets symbolically flew over the Croatian capital. With this move, Croatia raises its security to an unprecedented level and gains the ability to project power far beyond its borders. By acquiring multi-role combat aircraft, Croatia ensures air superiority in the area from Germany to Greece, dramatically changing its position on the geopolitical map of Europe and NATO. This visit and agreement significantly strengthen the French-Croatian partnership, ushering in a new era of stability for the entire region.
